Varisheh Moradi's death sentence overturned

According to an announcement by Mr. Mostafa Nili, the attorney for Kurdish political prisoner Ms. Varisheh Moradi: Following the review of the appeal filed regarding Ms. Varisheh Moradi in Branch 9 of the Supreme Court, due to flaws in the investigation and failure to observe legal formalities regarding the formal reading of charges during the judicial proceedings, the verdict issued by Branch 15 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court has been overturned, and the case has been referred back to that branch for reconsideration. The overturning of Ms. Moradi's death sentence was officially communicated to her defense attorneys on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 [19 Azar 1404].
Varisheh Moradi was arrested in Sanandaj on August 1, 2023 [10 Mordad 1402], and after undergoing five months of interrogation and solitary confinement in the Ministry of Intelligence detention center in Tehran, she was transferred to the women's ward of Evin Prison. Subsequently, Branch 15 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court issued a death sentence against her on the charge of armed rebellion (baghi).
