The death sentences of Varisheh Moradi and Pakshan Azizi must be revoked
Statement by the Secretariat of the
Kurdistan Human Rights Organization
Two Kurdish female prisoners named Varisheh Moradi and Pakshan Azizi were arrested and imprisoned in Mordad 1402 (August 2023).
These two prisoners have been sentenced to death by the Tehran Revolutionary Court on security-political charges and "baghi" (armed rebellion). It is reported that they are currently facing the risk of confirmation and execution of their sentences.
The Kurdistan Human Rights Organization, while expressing concern over the judicial situation of women condemned to death, especially Ms. Varisheh Moradi and Ms. Pakshan Azizi, demands a review and the revocation of their death sentences by a higher judicial authority.
